Airbnb feeling effects of Big Apple’s illegal rent crackdown

    27000 listings and more then half are illegal. Growth hs leveled off in the first part of the year. Listings down 3%, I don't think that's substantial at all. 27000 listings! There are only so many possible rentals. I am sure prices are up considerably this year.

    You are correct. The reading of the article doesn't substantiate the title.

    According to data obtained by The Post, from January to April 2015 OSE conducted 598 inspections of illegal hotels in the city compared with 430 over the same period a year earlier and issued 564 violations this year compared with 310 last year.
    15k illegal listings and only 564 violations.

    Curious as to what the "violators" get who are caught. Will they hire more investigators to crack down more on Listings in NewYork? Like you guys mention it's a pretty rampant problem. They don't appear to be able to control it.
